Excellence in education
Speech and Drama
At Pioneer Village School we recognise the educational value of offering Speech and Drama lessons.
Speech and Drama classes include a range of drama and voice-related activities designed to improve self-confidence, communication skills, creative imagination, leadership skills, and teamwork techniques, all the while fostering a lifelong love of reading and literature.
Mrs Verstegen is passionate about providing Communication and Dramatic Arts education in the primary sector. She believes that through Drama we discover our voice and through Speech Training we are given a toolkit for sharing that voice with the world.
Mrs Verstegen is a former Pioneer Village student and an experienced Speech and Drama specialist, awarded an ATCL in Speech and Drama Teaching from Trinity College, London in 2005. Emily has extensive experience teaching in private studios and schools, and has spent the last 15 years specializing in teaching Speech and Drama to Junior School students at Penrhos College. Emily is experienced in preparing students for international external examinations with the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, as well as for the state competition in the annual Perth Speech and Drama Festival. She has served as a Member of the Board of the Speech and Drama Teachers Association.
‘Providing education in Dramatic Arts and Communication is my passion and my life’s work. I believe that through Drama we discover our voice, while Speech Training gives us the toolkit to share that voice with the world.’ Emily Verstegen.
