This week we are celebrating NAIDOC, as part of Pioneer Village School’s commitment to fostering respect and reconciliation. Today, Wadjak Elder Brett Collard and his son Wadjak-Ballardong Noongar man Dylan Collard came to perform a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremonies for all our students. Tomorrow, students will take part in Dylan’s Noongar language lessons. In class students will also be reading books written by a range of First Nations authors and illustrators, practising previously taught Noongar words, and exploring the rich culture and history of our First Nations peoples.
